On 28 November 2024, the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) and Europa Nostra are co-organising a conference on the ‘New European Bauhaus: Heritage & Transformation‘, taking place in Krakow, Poland. The conference will be livestreamed.
This hybrid event is organised in collaboration and with the support of the International Cultural Centre and the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub in Krakow, in the framework of the EU-funded European Heritage Hub pilot project. The conference is held under the Honorary Patronage of the Mayor of Kraków, Aleksander Miszalski.
As the European Union, its institutions, Member States, regions and cities have embarked on a radical transformation of our built environment, the one-day conference aims at:
- Raising awareness among policy-makers and stakeholders of the challenges facing our built heritage;
- Sharing good practices and innovative solutions for the protection, retrofit and re-use of our built heritage;
- Discussing barriers and enablers to scale up these good practices and support innovation.
On this occasion, high-level representatives from Poland and the EU Institutions as well as experts from across Europe will share their perspectives on the EU initiative New European Bauhaus and its implications for the heritage sector, in terms of innovation, sustainability, inclusion and funding.
The event will conclude with the presentation of the ACE x Europa Nostra joint statement by Sneška Quaedvlieg-Mihailovic, Secretary General of Europa Nostra and Project Leader of the European Heritage Hub, and Ruth Schagemann, President of the Architects’ Council of Europe.
