Heritage Library

Welcome to the Heritage Library!

The Heritage Library is a digital repository of heritage-related materials, providing access to a vast pool of resources, ranging from research papers, articles and case studies to audiovisual content and much more. A filter system and search bar help users navigate content in the database, which includes multilingual content linked to heritage across the European continent. Materials can be downloaded or found in their original source.

The Heritage Library is managed by the European Heritage Hub, an-EU funded pilot project bringing together heritage stakeholders and initiatives across Europe to support the transition towards a more sustainable, digital and inclusive society.

Broadening Heritage Knowledge

The Hub fully embraces digital technologies to make heritage-related content, policies, initiatives and news easily accessible to all. Using the Five Pillars of the European Framework for Action on Cultural Heritage and the Triple Transformation as a connecting thread, the library aims to broaden knowledge of existing heritage actions, facts, and figures and encourage the exchange of best practices beyond borders.

Ultimately, through increased knowledge sharing the Hub builds resilience of the heritage ecosystem and demonstrates the value it brings to our economy, society and the environment among policy-makers, practitioners and citizens at large.

We are still working to increase the volume of content in the Heritage Library. For more information on how to submit materials, please check the FAQs below.

Heritage Library FAQ

The Heritage Library is a digital repository of heritage-related materials spanning across Europe.

The Heritage Library offers a diverse collection of heritage-related content, from research such as reports and articles; practical materials, such as case studies, toolkits and guidelines; and audiovisual content, such as videos and podcasts.

Content is categorised under five overarching themes:

  • Green transition
  • Digital transition
  • Inclusion & accessibility
  • Heritage Preservation
  • International Cultural Relations

The Heritage Library’s geographic scope spans across Europe, encompassing content with a pan-European focus regardless of where it was originally produced.

The documents are in their original languages, but the summaries and key information are all in English.

Navigation through the library is facilitated by two primary tools. The menu bar located on the left side enables users to filter by topic, content type, language, geography, source, and publication date. The search bar helps refine results by using specific or combined keywords.

Documents are either directly uploaded to the database for user download or are linked to an external source for access.

The Heritage Library is managed by the European Heritage Hub, an-EU funded pilot project run by a consortium of 20 partners led by Europa Nostra.
