The Subsidy Scheme supports the restoration and repurposing of special buildings, including monuments and iconic structures designated by municipalities. The program aims to preserve Drenthe’s heritage and prevent vacancy or decay by encouraging preservation or adaptive reuse. Subsidies may be provided as low-interest loans or direct funding. Direct funding covers planning costs for heritage communities and preservation/repurposing costs for owners of agricultural, religious, publicly accessible, or other monuments. Loans are available through the Drents Monumenten Fonds, often in collaboration with the Restoration Fund. The scheme runs till 31 December 2024.
