Component C04 – Culture of the Recovery and Resilience Plan has a total budget of around 150 million euros and includes the “RE-C04-i02 – Cultural Heritage” investment, which is divided into three measures. The “C04-i02-m02 – Requalification of National Theatres” investment measure provides funding, totalling around 43 million euros, for requalification and modernisation interventions at the following national cultural facilities: Teatro Nacional de São Carlos; Teatro Nacional D. Maria II; Teatro Camões.
In addition to the requalification and restoration of the physical component of the theatres with improved active and passive energy performance, the planned interventions also include improvements in terms of infrastructure and technical equipment to modernise these cultural facilities in accordance with environmental and safety standards.
This technical guidance outlines selection criteria, geographical scope, and beneficiary obligations relating to investment measure “C04-i02-m02”. It places emphasis on the compliance with accounting standards, monitoring activities, and the principle of “Do No Significant Harm.” It also highlights the objectives under the Next Generation EU’s Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, aiming to enhance culture, heritage, and arts for social cohesion.
