Kulturentwicklungsplan KEP Land Salzburg. Visionen Ziele Maßnahmen (Cultural Development Plan of Salzburg. Visions Goals Measures)

The “Kulturentwicklungsplan” is a comprehensive strategy for the development of the cultural sector in Salzburg and it addresses cultural heritage through a multifaceted approach.
First of all, it advocates for the importance of preserving built cultural heritage and architectural traditions in Salzburg. Emphasis is placed on safeguarding cultural monuments and ensembles that shape Salzburg’s cultural identity. This includes historical buildings as well as those from the recent past.
The strategy aims at increasing awareness and appreciation of local cultural heritage from a young age by promoting architectural and cultural education.
Concerning the integration principle, the strategy envisages to integrate cultural traditional architecture with contemporary approaches. Moreover, it encourages sustainable reuse and adaptive strategies for unused buildings, linking heritage preservation with modern needs and economic viability.
The Salzburg cultural development plan considers at length the sustainability aspect, it makes the case for community involvement in order to ensure continuity of volunteering activities.
The support for cultural institutions, such as museums, scientific institutions, libraries, and archives that contribute to preserving and engaging with both tangible and intangible cultural heritage is renovated, as they are considered pivotal in documenting, researching, and presenting cultural heritage to the public. Likewise, major cultural events and festivals are supported, with the aim of balancing tradition and modernity in their programming.
Lastly, the plan acknowledges the importance of international cooperation and intercultural exchange.
