Cultura e Desenvolvimento: Projetos culturais e a Agenda 2030

This report focuses on the intersection of cultural projects and the 2030 Agenda in Portugal during the first quarter of 2020. It aims to identify, characterise, and map cultural initiatives that align with the sustainable development goals (SDGs) outlined in the 2030 Agenda. The study emphasises the critical role that the cultural sector can play in achieving these goals, particularly in the context of post-COVID-19 recovery.

In the initial phase of the research, 278 cultural projects were identified, with a significant concentration in the Northern region of Portugal. The report highlights that 84.5% of these projects originate from this area, and a notable 68.5% of the initiatives target individuals under 18 years of age. The analysis reveals that the majority of projects align with SDG 4 (Quality Education), indicating a strong focus on educational outcomes within cultural initiatives.

Methodologically, the study outlines specific objectives, including the identification and characterisation of cultural projects, as well as the creation of a virtual map for georeferencing these initiatives. The report also discusses the importance of incorporating culture explicitly into the planning and monitoring mechanisms related to the 2030 Agenda. The findings underscore the necessity for cultural professionals and organisations to engage with the 2030 Agenda actively, thereby enhancing the visibility and impact of cultural projects in sustainable development.

In conclusion, the report serves as a foundational document for understanding the role of culture in sustainable development and sets the stage for further analysis and mapping of cultural projects in Portugal.
