The Action Plan for Culture NORTE 2030 aims to develop the cultural and creative sectors in the Northern region of Portugal, aligning with the European Union’s funding cycle and strategic priorities for 2021-2027. Its mission is to create a cohesive set of proposals that enhance cultural heritage and promote creativity, thereby contributing to economic growth and social inclusion.
The plan is built on three transversal objectives: increasing qualifications across the population, ensuring equitable access to quality public services, and improving regional governance efficiency.
The plan outlines three main programs: NORTE PATRIMONIAL (Heritage North), focusing on the preservation and management of cultural heritage; NORTE CULTURAL (Cultural North), aimed at developing regional cultural networks and services; and NORTE CRIATIVO (Creative North), which supports creative industries and artistic initiatives. It emphasises the importance of safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, such as the Mirandese language, and enhancing the regional cultural ecosystem.
Key actions include the qualification and revitalisation of cultural facilities, strategic initiatives for inclusive cultural access, and the promotion of sustainable tourism. The plan also highlights the need for collaboration among public institutions, cultural agents, and the private sector to effectively implement these initiatives.
By fostering creativity and cultural engagement, the Action Plan for Culture NORTE 2030 seeks to position the Northern region as a vibrant cultural hub within the Iberian and European contexts, ultimately generating social cohesion and a strong sense of community identity.
