This document outlines the cultural strategy for Braga from 2020 to 2030, emphasising the city’s commitment to cultural development as a pillar of sustainable growth. It highlights the importance of community engagement, economic stimulation, and knowledge dissemination within the cultural and creative sectors. The strategy is not only a response to the city’s bid for European Capital of Culture in 2027 but also a guiding compass for the future, reflecting the aspirations and concerns of Braga’s residents and stakeholders.
The Strategy involves a series of four Implementation Plans spanning the ten-year period, each detailing actions, stakeholders, timelines, required resources, and performance indicators. These plans will be reviewed at the end of their term, with outcomes informing subsequent implementation strategies. The document stresses the need for continuous evaluation to keep the strategy relevant and adaptable to new ideas and community feedback.
Collaboration with various city agents and civil society members, including artists, creators, and business leaders, is crucial for the strategy’s success. The city aims to enhance cultural participation, boost the creative economy, and promote the generation and dissemination of cultural knowledge. The evaluation model under development will monitor activities, define performance indicators, and assess the strategy’s impact on Braga’s cultural regeneration.
Additionally, a financing model is being developed to support the strategy’s implementation, ensuring sustainable funding mechanisms are in place for each phase of the cultural strategy. Overall, the document underscores Braga’s commitment to cultural vitality, economic growth, and community involvement over the next decade.
