Estratégia Regional de Cultura 2030: Cultura, Criatividade e Resiliência dos Territórios

The Regional Cultural Strategy 2030 aims to align with the “Strategic Vision for the Centro Region 2030” and its intervention instruments within the new programming cycle. The strategy focuses on three key pillars: Culture, Creativity, and Resources, emphasising the role of culture in community development and capacity building.

Analysing the proposed strategy in conjunction with various documents and the results of the “Culture in Post-Centro 2020” study, the document seeks to bridge conceptual perspectives with the ambitions of the Centro region. It identifies the need to enhance cultural resources and proposes strategies to leverage these resources on a broader territorial scale. The goal is to create a strategic framework based on cultural needs and investment priorities in the context of upcoming financial programming.

The document incorporates contributions from various Intermunicipal Communities (CIMs) that highlight the potential of culture and cultural heritage as tourism assets and tools for territorial cohesion. It also addresses the role of culture in combating social exclusion, particularly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Key themes identified include cultural events, heritage preservation, urban cultural offerings, and cultural education.

Furthermore, the document emphasises the importance of cultural cooperation on a global scale, citing culture as a source of wealth creation and a barrier against the commercialization of the world. It envisions a future where Portugal strengthens its geopolitical position through investments in language, culture, and cultural industries.

The strategy also outlines actions to modernise cultural infrastructure, enhance museum quality, and address challenges such as the lack of cultural facilities in certain areas, advocating for the development of cultural infrastructure to support the region’s cultural growth.
