1. The cultural heritage of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter referred to as “cultural heritage”) is an irreplaceable wealth of the state and its citizens, it is a document of the development of society, philosophy, religion, science, technology, art, a document of the educational and cultural level of the Slovak nation, other nations, national minorities, ethnic groups and individuals who live or have lived in the past on the territory of Slovakia.
2. The different types and parts of cultural heritage shall be equal and shall form an integral part of cultural heritage Cultural heritage is material and intangible values, movable and immovable property, including imported works and ideas that have found a place and application in Slovakia.
3. The intangible value of cultural heritage shall include, in particular, linguistic and literary expressions disseminated through oral or sound media, works of dramatic, musical and dance art, customs and traditions, historical events, geographical, cadastral and local names.
4. The material value of cultural heritage is mainly archival documents, regardless of the method of recording information, historical library documents and collections, works of writing, scenography, cinematography, television and audiovisual production, collections of museums and galleries, works of visual, applied and folk art, design, architectural objects, urban ensembles, archaeological finds and localities, objects of folk architecture, monuments of production, science and technology, historical gardens, parks.
