This publication provides teacher training on the concepts and content of cultural heritage, it proposes activities for educating and raising awareness among pupils of various ages, and culminates in organizing a competition for pupils to showcase and present their cultural heritage. Through an integrated approach, the guidelines aims to educate both students and teachers about tangible and intangible cultural heritage, with a specific focus on observing and identifying individual elements and motivating them to take action for its protection.
In the chapters of the guide, an attempt is made to analyse basic notions that constitute the concept of place, such as the following:
– natural environment – man-made environment
– landscape
– natural heritage
– cultural heritage (tangible and intangible)
– monument, architectural heritage, historic town, traditional settlement, historic centre.
Particular emphasis is placed on the conservation and management of cultural and natural heritage.
In addition, activities are proposed which will help students to become aware of the above through experiential, interactive approaches.
