Públicos da Exposição ‘Loulé – Territórios, Memórias, Identidades’ no Museu Nacional de Arqueologia

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of visitor feedback and perspectives on the “Loulé, Territórios, Memórias, Identidades” exhibition, shedding light on the public’s reception of the museum experience. The research delves into the sociological aspects of museum learning and the diverse cultural practices of both national and foreign visitors. The study encompasses 954 questionnaires and interviews with 10 individuals, providing valuable insights into the exhibition’s impact on its audience.

The findings reveal a positive overall reception of the exhibition, with visitors expressing appreciation for the museography, interactive elements, and tactile objects. However, there were notable suggestions for improvement, including the need for multilingual support, more detailed information on exhibited items, and enhanced contextualization of the historical and geographical significance of the showcased artefacts. Additionally, visitors highlighted the importance of storytelling and the organisation of the exhibition around key themes.

Furthermore, the study underscores the significance of targeted outreach efforts, such as engaging with schools, providing guided tours, and offering audio guides to enhance the visitor experience. The feedback also emphasised the desire for comprehensive and specific information in the exhibition’s captions, texts, and maps, indicating a need for more detailed and context-rich content.

Overall, this study provides valuable insights for professionals and enthusiasts in the field of European Heritage, offering a nuanced understanding of visitor perspectives and preferences within the museum setting. It serves as a resource for enhancing the design and delivery of museum exhibitions, aligning with the evolving needs and expectations of diverse audiences.
